Hi, I’m Marc Coulter

When choosing a therapist to help you overcome things like addiction, PTSD, depression, and other difficulties, it's important to find the right fit. I will help you with a compassionate approach, drawing on my years of experience and training. I am a Ph.D., a licensed professional counselor (LPC), and a Master Addiction Counselor and have served clients in the Denver, Colorado area as well as military clients around the world for over 20 years.

I graduated from the University of Denver (DU) and Iliff School of Theology with a doctorate in Religious Studies with a focus in spiritual psychology in 2021. My dissertation is focused on the spiritual care of those who identify as spiritual but not religious and how their spiritual values, beliefs, and practices impact mental health. I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Masters in Counseling Psychology, focus in marriage and family therapy in 2001.

Aside from being a licensed professional counselor, I am a Master Addiction Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and a trained Parenting the Love and Logic Way® facilitator. I am a co-author of the book
Animal-assisted Brief Therapy: A Solution-Focused Approach, which centers on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

I have been serving clients in Colorado and around the globe for over 20 years with my motivational, inspirational, and solution-focused counseling. I am honored to have provided training and counseling to our U.S. Military members and families as a contractor with the Department of Defense beginning in January 2009.

I am proud to have served as the President of the Colorado Counseling Association in 2015-16. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Master Addiction Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor.

As a published author on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), I use my extensive experience and skills to help you discover and take action toward living your own solutions. My years of experience and training in many areas of counseling have provided me with a wide variety of tools to help you find your path to meaning, connection, and happiness.
My practice is rooted in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which approaches counseling from the perspective that it’s more important to analyze solutions than to focus on problems.  I use this counseling approach with groups and organizations as well, and ask clients to explore what is already working.  I have presented on numerous topics at the annual
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Association’s international conferences.
